We have previously mentioned that Minnesota is a no-fault state, which means your own insurance company takes care of your medical bills after a car accident. At some point, unless they have used all the money right up front to pay for a severe injury, like $20,000 of medical bills at the emergency room, they are going to be paying, over time, for bills that keep arriving.

At some point, they are going to want you to see one of their doctors under their concern that they want to make sure that you are getting the “best possible treatment.” If you do not already know, that is a red flag for their intent that they want to cut you off from your benefits, because they no longer want to pay.

In this scenario, they send you to one of their doctors, where you sit down with for 15-20 minutes. They are probably not really going to listen to you. Sometimes, they will return with a report that says you have a valid injury and that the insurance company should keep paying. Most of the time, though, that is when they are going to get a report that says you should have recovered from the accident, no longer need any more treatment, and if you do need more treatment, it is not because of the accident.

So, if you are told that you need to see their doctor, it is probably time to call an attorney. Call or text the car accident lawyers at 612-INJURED at (612) 465-8733 for a free consultation.
