In part 7 of our series dealing with claim denials by the at-fault driver’s insurance company, we are examining intentional injuries. This one thankfully does not often arise, where the person meant to hurt you using their car.

An extreme example is if somebody robbed you in such a manner. This is a case that we have had. They crashed into the person on purpose in an attempt to rob them. They disabled the vehicle using their own, got out, and held them at gunpoint. The insurance company is not going to provide coverage for that. They do not want to condone that type of behavior.

It does not have to be something that extreme. Another scenario is a domestic fight, where somebody has overreacted and tries to intentionally injure someone with their car or even just friends that are fighting or enemies they saw at the bar, whoever it might be. If they are trying to hurt you, the insurance company is not going to provide coverage for them, since it is against public policy.
